11.  Create a blogpost called "About Me" or "About (yourname) or About (your pen name), place it above your blog. This is required.

What's a pen name?

It's the name you use online if you don't want your relatives, boss, friends to know it's actually you blogging about FX Routes & Stations in Manila (or some other useful topic nobody has thought of making a blog for).

Oh and make sure your ABOUT has a PHOTO of You, too.

12.  Place the Email Catcher after EACH your post-also.

13.  Quote other bloggers, always link back!  No, don't just quote other bloggers, quote a LOT of bloggers and link back. Quote the media, and link back.

14.  Three column blog formats are too cluttered. Stick to two columns unless you know what you're doing.

15. Do not use too many "gadgets", "abubot", blog decorations, rotating maps, counters, badges that mean nothing but looks nice.

16. Drop the "snarky", "negative", "devil's advocate", "complaining" blogpost attitude. Most bloggers just complain all day. This is a turn off, specially for advertisers. Keep your blogposts positive, but not boring and stay away from gushing "AWESOME" --when in reality, you were really not awed, that's called lying.

This part begins SAMPLE blog posts you can read and analyze.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You'll see that passion and commitment goes a long way to creating fans and buyers online.

You'll see that it's the spilling of information and thought that drives people to pay attention, pay money and pay with kindness to you.

You'll need to reserve two hours going through this list and please take notes as to how they created the blog posts.

(apologies for the delays, this should have appeared Dec/Jan)

16.  http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2011/11/02/the-truth-about-abs-mike-geary/#more-6223

For all the blogposts here, you need to read them to appreciate and understand and derive your own conclusions.  But for me, this works because:
1. It's a long and detailed interview that doesn't really sell anything at the end. Just a "public service".
2. The audience of the blog is mostly MALE, hence the appeal of ABS.
3. The accomplishment of the interviewee is "off the charts", hence making people read.
4. Photo is weird.
5. Article is super long without going philosophically boring.

17. http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2011/12/why-i-shut-down-the-forums/

Why it works:
1. It's long, it doesn't have a photo but Steve has made people used to his long posts.
2. It's a popular post because because it's about shutting down something his readers may not have been aware about. Hence curiosity about what they may have missed. Sayang.
3. It reveals Steve's thought process and that's the way of thinking his readers want to emulate.
4. If you know that Steve's an understated online marketer who sacrificed like $5000 passive income for his values, then you'd read too.

18. http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2012/01/09/high-quality-free-fonts-2012/

It works because:
1. It gives away something for free and not just 3-10 things. More.
2. They do this on a regular basis, give something for free.
3. They're NOT giving anything for free. The people who own the fonts are the ones giving it for free. This blog is only listing down "who's giving fonts away for free.
4. Meaning, even you can make a blog post like this just by using research. This is why http://boy-kuripot.blogspot.com/ is also popular here.  He collects promos and posts them.

19. http://www.incrediblethings.com/lists/20-brilliant-bookcases/

Why it works:
1. This site is #1 in google images search for book cases.
2. This format of images, text image text image text (and note the captions, too) is popular, easy to read.
3. People in the interiors, real estate, living spaces business love images that can capture the imagination of buyers and browsers.
4. The images have been reused by many many other sites with complete disregard for copyright. If you're going to do this, you'd do well to find a link to the original creator of the work.
5. Again, it's a long list of things to look at.
6. Blogs like this get lots of readers and they stay really really long. Because it's this vs a P 1000 coffee table design book in an upscale bookstore.

Why it works:
1. It's a self-expose about how someone earns $57,000 last January. I dare you to be bored an uninterested.
2. It shows where the income sources are.
3. It doesn't show how it's done.
4. It's gutsy, something most pinoys will not do without an accountant looking over his shoulder. And most likely this post was done with an accountant and an auditor, just to be safe and accurate.
5. 100+ comments means this guy has not done his absolute best to promote this post.
6. He does this every month!
7. This is called a self-testimony blog post and it's very very long and you'll read every word, I'm sure.

Assignment:

1. Do not just read the blurb/samples above, get on the internet and read the whole blog post and tell me if I'm right or wrong.

2. Write down in the Facebook MMI your comments as to why these blogposts are interesting and business building.

3. Write down what you need to do to make YOUR blogposts interesting too and (after promotion) watch people ask for more from you!

Now live a marvelous life,
Jomar Hilario
